Videos from the past few months

One of Karsten's favorite things to do, no matter where he is, is to get into the dishwasher, he just loves to try and get stuff out.

In true Westlake spirit Karsten is also practicing his piano skills from a young age.

Karsten on Homes

Okay so there is this show on HGTV called Holmes on Homes about this guy who goes in and fixes renovations gone bad...that is where the post title comes from.

Karsten has been loving helping mommy and daddy around the house since we moved in, here are a few pictures of his "helping". He gets so tired though he has to nap and of course, he is a union worker, so breaks are required.

Pictures from March and April

Below are some pictures from March and April. Karsten loves playing with oranges. Karsten got a toy bin for Easter that he enjoyed playing in. When we moved into the house Karsten loved "helping" unpack the boxes and put stuff together with daddy.

Easter Pictures

Okay so yes they are TOTALLY late but here are our Easter pictures. My mom took Karsten and my nephews to get their pictures taken. I got the little outfits but didn't try Karsten's on before he left...well I soon found out he needed to move up a size...chunky.

So the oldest is Che, then Karsten, and the little guy is Rylan.

Whew been a long time!

Well as you can see it has been a REALLY long time since we updated this blog…bad Julia, bad.

Well per my last post we moved from Utah back to Arizona. From about late/mid February to mid-April we lived with Ryan’s parents (thanks guys). Karsten loved being able to see his aunt and uncle as well as grammy and grampy every day! While living with the “Westlakes” Karsten learned how to crawl, he went from scooting to full on crawling. One of Karsten’s favorite things to do while living with gramy and grampy was to play with their oranges…roll them around, hold them, lick them, etc.

While living “at home” we started the scary and exciting process of looking for a home to buy. We decided that we really wanted to have a place of our own after moving around 5+ times since we were married.

After a lot of looking we managed to find a house in San Tan Valley, AZ (Queen Creek). A big thank you to our friends Chance and Kristal for referring us to their realtor, Becky, and their mortgage broker, Mike – they worked so hard for us – THANKS!! We LOVE our new home…plenty of room for everything we love to do. We have been so busy since moving in. Ryan has installed ceiling fans, we bought curtains for our bedroom, Ryan removed wallpaper from our bathroom downstairs and our master bedroom, we also have done some minor fixes to things around the house. We are still busy making some improvements and getting prepped to begin decorating. Decorating so far has been one of the biggest challenges since moving in…I guess that is a good challenge to have!

One of the things we love about having a home and being back in AZ is being able to see friends and family. We have loved having people over and going out and about to see our friends. Karsten has especially liked being so social!

After moving in Karsten quickly learned how to stand, push toys and chairs across the flow to walk where he wants, and walk along the furniture, walk while holding someone’s hand, and as of this week he is taking steps without holding onto anything. Karsten has also started clapping and he says “mama, dada, yeah, hi,” and a few sounds. Karsten has 4 official teeth in but 4 more keep coming in then sinking back down a bit, it is quite annoying.

We have also taken Karsten swimming over the past few weeks; he LOVES it, just like mommy and daddy. He loves to splash, kick, float, etc.

We have also been so blessed to enjoy spending time at home working and together!

More pictures to come.

February 2010

This past month has been a month of changes. We began the month of February in Arizona, then went back to Utah to move, spent a few weeks there, then moved down to Arizona. We have now been in Arizona for about 2 weeks and what a two weeks it has been! Karsten now has his two bottom teeth – OUCH! Yep he bites sometimes. The teeth are super cute though and he is getting 2 more in on the top, one is almost poking through right now and the other will soon follow. Karsten is also learning how to crawl, he gets up on his hands and knees and stays there kind of deciding what to do next. Karsten can also pull himself up to standing, one of his absolute favorite things to do! One of the most fun developments though has been Karsten’s speaking…he can now say “Mamamama” aka “Mama” and “dddaaaddda” aka “Dad”. Well the words may not be perfect yet but they sure do melt my heart. In other news upon turning 7 months Karsten decided he no longer wants bottles and has taken up nursing…yes a kid who nursed a hand full of times in the first few months of life practically threw himself on me to begin nursing...interesting to say the least. I have really been enjoying the time nursing allows us to spend together as well as not having to pump and clean a bunch of bottles. We shall see how long this phase lasts. This past weekend my in-laws, who we are staying with, had Jon Schmidt stay at their house (see post below) and the kids had a piano and fiddle recital that was pretty neat. I have never seen Ryan’s siblings play in concert and it was fun to be able to see them perform. Ryan and I have been busy getting settled and figuring out housing and other things, I don’t feel like we have had much time to do anything, in fact the past two weeks are pretty much a blur and seem like they have flown by. Usually we would have called friends and family to visit but we have been so busy with things like the DMV, housing, work, etc that we have most of the day scheduled. In other words please don’t feel bad if we haven’t called we will soon. Here are some fun pictures from the past month.
